North Otago Intermediate Basketball Competition for Years 7 & 8
Intermediate basketball is for players in Years 7 and 8 and provides a more structured and competitive environment as players continue their development. This level focuses on applying skills in game situations, building team concepts and preparing players for secondary school basketball.
Intermediate Competition
The Intermediate Basketball competition is for players in Years 7 and 8 and runs across Terms 2 and 3. Games are played after school during the week. Teams may be single-gender or mixed gender, and the competition is competitive in nature. Boys play with a size 6 basketball, while girls and mixed teams use a size 5 basketball. Games are played on 10-foot hoops.
Players must register through their school. If you are interested in taking part, please speak with your school’s sports coordinator or sports teacher for registration details.
Network Waitaki Intermediate Tournament
North Otago Basketball hosts the Network Waitaki Intermediate Tournament during the second school holidays each year. The tournament has been running since 1993 and is a long-standing part of the basketball calendar in North Otago.
The event brings together intermediate school teams from across the region for several days of competitive basketball and continues to be an important development opportunity for players at this level.
