North Otago Secondary School Comp for Years 9 & 10
Secondary school basketball for Years 9 and 10 provides both competitive and non-competitive options, allowing players to participate at a level that suits their experience, ability and commitment.
Secondary School Competition – Competitive
The competitive secondary school competition is for players in Years 9 and 10 and runs across Terms 2 and 3. Teams are selected by schools and compete in the Otago Basketball Competition in Dunedin, with games played on Friday nights.
This competition offers a high standard of basketball for players who are looking to further develop their skills, understanding of the game and experience in a competitive environment. Players wishing to trial for this competition should speak with their school’s sports coordinator or the teacher in charge of basketball.
Secondary School Competition – Non-Competitive
The non-competitive secondary school competition is for players in Years 9 and 10 and runs across Terms 2 and 3. This grade is designed for players who are looking for a less demanding environment, with a focus on participation and enjoyment.
Games are played after school during the week. Players should register their interest through their school’s sports coordinator or the teacher in charge of basketball.
