Code of Conduct

North Otago Basketball- Player Code of Conduct

At North Otago Basketball Association, we want every player to contribute to a positive, respectful and enjoyable environment. As a player representing North Otago Basketball, you are expected to uphold the values of respect, integrity and sportsmanship at all times.

Respect

Players are expected to treat teammates, coaches, managers, referees, officials, volunteers and opponents with respect. Referee and official decisions must be accepted without argument or abuse. Appropriate language and behaviour are expected at all times, along with respect for facilities, equipment and property.

Team Commitment

Players are expected to attend trainings and games on time and let their coach know if they are unable to attend. Every player should give their best effort at trainings and games, support and encourage teammates, and follow the instructions of coaches and team management.

Wearing the Uniform with Pride

Wearing the North Otago Basketball uniform is a privilege. Players are expected to wear their uniform with pride and respect, ensure it is worn correctly, and keep it clean and tidy. When in uniform, players represent not only themselves and their team, but also North Otago Basketball, its sponsors and the wider basketball community.

Fair Play and Integrity

Players are expected to play by the rules and compete fairly at all times. Bullying, harassment, discrimination and any form of misconduct will not be tolerated. Aggressive, dangerous or unsporting behaviour is unacceptable. Players are expected to represent North Otago Basketball positively both on and off the court.

Social Media and Public Behaviour

Players must use social media responsibly and avoid posting content that could bring themselves, their team or North Otago Basketball into disrepute. Players should also remember that they represent the Association at events, tournaments and in the wider community.

Health and Safety

Players are expected to play safely and report injuries promptly. No player may participate under the influence of drugs or alcohol. All health, safety and tournament regulations set by the Association must be followed.

Breach of Code

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action. Depending on the severity of the breach, this may include a warning, suspension, or removal from the team or Association activities.
